Delicious but simple, I’m talking a massive two ingredients kind of simple, hot chocolate recipe. Although I suppose it’s three if you include the spoon, but despite being simple, this is a really rich, delicious way to prepare hot chocolate. I used dark chocolate, but this method will work for dark, milk or white chocolate, so use whichever one you prefer
You’ll need;
- One 180g bar of chocolate
- Wooden spoons
- An ice cube tray
- Optional -Sprinkles to decorate
Method;
- Firstly, melt the chocolate using a microwave. Break the chocolate into cubes and place into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for ten second bursts, removing from the microwave and stirring each time
- Once the chocolate is just melted, remove it from the microwave. There should be a couple of pieces of chocolate that aren’t totally melted, they will melt with the residual heat in the bowl. Melting the chocolate this way ensures it will properly temper
- Pipe or spoon the chocolate into the tray, use whichever method you prefer. Tap the tray against the working surface to bring any air bubbles to the surface. Leave to cool for a couple of minutes before inserting the spoons and sprinkles (if using). If you add the spoons right away they won’t stand up properly
- Leave to cool in the fridge for a couple of hours before removing from the tray. Then when you want a hot chocolate, simply heat up 200ml of plant milk, then stir the hot chocolate spoon in the milk until it has dissolved
These would also make for lovely little stocking fillers. Just buy a nice mug, pop in a couple hot chocolate spoons and a little packet of marshmallows, then wrap in cellophane and tie with a ribbon
