These are really simple and easy to make, and would be perfect with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Jus rol pastry is available in most supermarkets and is accidentally suitable for vegans. There are a few different dairy free chocolate spreads around now, the one I used is by So Free, I bought it from Holland and Barrett
To make 16 twists, you will need;
- One 320g/11oz pack of pre-rolled puff pastry
- Three or four tablespoons of chocolate spread
- 50g chopped nuts, I used a mix of peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds
Method;
- Allow the pastry to come to room temperature, once it has it’s ready to unroll. Spread the chocolate on one half of the pastry. Then top it with the chopped nuts
- Then fold the other half of the pastry over the chocolate and nuts. Gently press it down a little, just enough to make sure it sticks. Cut the pastry into 16 strips
- Twist each strip and put it onto a lined baking tray
- Bake at 220°C/200°C fan assisted/400°F for 10-15 minutes, or until they’re golden brown
I have some puff pastry in the freezer which I’ve been wondering what to do with, and I also have some vego spread and lotus biscoff spread, so I think I’ve decided how to use it!
Thanks Bethany, I look forward to making them this weekend 🙂
