Loaded Doner Kebab Chips – with garlic sauce

This recipe came from me making Doner Kebab Style Seitan. I thought it would make for an excellent loaded chips recipe. This would be ideal for when you fancy a good fakeaway. This combines crispy oven chips, topped with melted dairy-free cheese, fried shredded vegan doner meat, and it’s topped with chilli sauce, creamy garlic sauce, fresh tomatoes and garnished with garlic chives. Shredding the seitan and frying it allows it to cook quickly and crisp up at the edges. Try out these loaded doner kebab chips the next time you fancy making some doner kebab style seitan

A forkful of cheesy chips, shredded doner kebab style seitan, chilli sauce, and garlic sauce

Serves; One Cook time; 20 minutes

You’ll need;

  1. One serving of oven chips
  2. One teaspoon of oil
  3. 75g shredded vegan doner kebab style seitan
  4. 35g grated dairy-free cheese
  5. Chilli sauce to taste, I used Sriracha
  6. Garlic sauce to taste, you can make this using the recipe listed in the blog post linked above
  7. One small diced tomato
  8. A few garlic chives for garnish, chopped

Method;

  • Simply cook the chips as per the cooking instructions on the packet. A couple of minutes before the cooking time is up, remove them from the oven and scatter over the cheese. Return the chips to the oven and allow the cheese to melt. I like using my air-fryer to make the chips, especially as it’s just the one serving. It’s really easy to just whack the chips in there, scatter over the cheese when they’re nearly done, then slide the chips out onto a plate
  • While the chips are cooking, heat a small frying pan over a medium heat. Add the oil and once it’s warmed up, add the shredded seitan
  • Give the seitan five minutes to heat through and begin to crisp up at the edges
  • To serve, slide the chips onto a plate, then top with the seitan. Drizzle over chilli sauce, garlic sauce, diced tomato, and garlic chives if using
